DESCRIPTION:Joint conference of the Swiss Society for African Studies (SGAS
 /SSEA) and the Association for African Studies in Germany e.V. (VAD) hosted
  by the ZASB Research Network Africa at the University of Basel\n\nFrom 26 
 to 28 August 2026, the Swiss Society for African Studies (SGAS/SSEA) and th
 e Association for African Studies in Germany e.V. (VAD) will jointly hold t
 heir respective biennial conferences in Basel, Switzerland. The conference 
 hosted by the ZASB Research Network Africa at the University of Basel conne
 cts scholars based in Europe, Africa and beyond and welcomes participants f
 rom all career levels.\n\nThe conference theme “African Perspectives on Glo
 bal Transformations” proposes a framework that responds to increasingly urg
 ent calls for decolonization, epistemic justice, reparations, climate justi
 ce and restitution, under the conceptual header of planetary health and cos
 mopolitan flourishing. Based on this framework, the conference brings toget
 her approaches to examine past, present and future global transformations f
 rom a broad spectrum of disciplines and thematic areas.\n\nThe call for pan
 el is now open until 31 July 2025. Conveners will be notified on the accept
 ance of their panel proposition by 1 October 2025.\n\nPlease visit the conf
