SUMMARY:8th Swiss Researching Africa Days
DESCRIPTION:The conference marks the 50th anniversary of the Swiss Society 
 for African Studies\n\nThe 8th edition of the Swiss Researching Africa Days
  will take place on 25−26 October 2024 at the Institute for Social Anthropo
 logy, University of Bern. The biennial Swiss Researching Africa Days are he
 ld alternating with the international thematic conferences of the Swiss Soc
 iety for African Studies. They are open to all disciplines representing Afr
 ican Studies. The objective of the meeting is to promote the exchange among
  the community of researchers working on Africa in Switzerland. Its goals a
 re to\n\npresent current research projects of MA- and doctoral students, po
 st-docs and senior scholars;enhance the circulation of relevant information
  between these actors and the respective institutions;offer a platform for 
 synergies and collaboration;enhance the visibility of African Studies in Sw
 itzerland, the universities and research institutions;promote the instituti
 onalisation of African Studies.\n\nGeneral theme “Sustainability and Transf
 ormation”\n\nThe Swiss Society for African Studies celebrates its 50th anni
 versary. In this context, the two concepts, sustainability and transformati
 ons, may be understood broadly and can be addressed from all angles and poi
 nts of view. \n\nProgram\n\nThe rich program features a keynote, nine panel
 s, and a special plenary session celebrating 50 years of African Studies in
  Switzerland. The lunch breaks provide space for poster sessions. Please do
 wnload the preliminary program. The program will be updated shortly listing
  the individual presentations.\n\nPosters\n\nA number of posters were submi
 tted - we got space for some more. If you are a PhD student at a Swiss univ
 ersity or recently completed your PhD on a topic related to Africa at a Swi
 ss university and would like to present your work in the form of a poster,

 the framework of the Swiss Researching Africa Days on Friday evening 25 Oct
